The Confrery du Sabre d'Or endeavors to establish and encourage the consumption of Champagne in the world.
It has promotes the wine of Champagne and the Art of Sabrage (the act of opening a bottle of Champagne with a sword), around the world, since more than 30 years. With more than 35000 members in 36 countries, it is the most important brotherhood celebrating Champagne in the world.
The US Embassy of The Confrerie du Sabre d'Or was created in 2002 by a group of connoisseurs of Champagne, comprised of both American and French citizens. The members, men and women, are called Sabreurs, Chevaliers-Sabreurs then Officers and Commandeurs.
The fun adds to the seriousness of this action. Opening a bottle with a sabre makes an occasion all the more memorable. We expect all Sabreurs to pass on this message to Champagne lovers throughout the world.
We, in the United States of America, consider the sabre a good substitute for the napkin and sprained wrist that can take place when opening a bottle of Champagne. The sharing of this spectacular event permits us to join a fraternity devoted to CHAMPAGNE! These are concepts that are relevant throughout the world.
The Confrérie du Sabre d’Or is headed in France by the Grand-Maître, Jean-Claude Jalloux, with the Grand Council. There are 36 Ambassadors of International Chapters.
The North American Chapter is led by Mr. Philippe Milgrom, assisted by Mr. Patrick Caraco, Mr. Laurent Caraco and Mr. Benoit Clair.
